General Situation at 04:00 AM local Time At 04.00 a.m. LST today, tropical Storm “JEBI” was centered about 580 kilometers southeast of Hainan Island or at Latitude 15.3 degree North, Longitude 114.4 degree East, with sustained winds of 65 km/hr. This storm is moving west-northwest about 10 km/hr. It is forecast to cover the Bay of Tonkin and make landfall on the upper Vietnam during 2-3 August then become weak before triggering its impact on the upper parts of Laos and Thailand. During 2-5 August, isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected over the North and the Northeast. People in the areas should beware of this severe weather. The provinces include Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani,
Nong Bua Lam Phu, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit and Phetchabun.
The rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Isolated heavy rain remains over the western Central, the East and the South West Coast. People in Kanchanaburi, Chanthaburi, Trat, Ranong and Phang-nga should beware of heavy rain. The wind wave in the Andaman Sea is likely about 2 meters high. All ships in the areas should proceed with caution.
