General Situation at 04:00 AM local Time The rather strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand Scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers are likely over the country, as well as isolated heavy to very heavy rain in the East and the South west coast. People should beware of the severe condition. The wave height in the Andaman Sea is expected 2-3 meters. All ships should proceed with caution. Small ships in the Andaman Sea keep ashore.
At 04.00 a.m. today, typhoon “Kalmaegi” centered of western Philippines. It was centered about 1,000 kilometers of Hainan, or latitude 18.4 Degree North, longitude 119.6 degree east, with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/hr. It is moving west northwest with wind speed of 30 Km/hr. It is expected to come close to Hainan, China by 16 September. The storm will affect Thailand’s weather condition, during 16-18 September, with more rain and stronger wind and waves of both the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf. All people should follow the weather forecast closely.
