General Situation The monsoon trough lies across Myanmar, Laos through upper Vietnam has weakened while the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf of Thailand. The active low pressure cell covers near the coast of Hong Kong, China. There remains rain likely over Thailand and strong winds in the Andaman and the Gulf.

24-hr forecast for the country: Reduction of rainfall is possible for the North. Still, there remains continual and heavy rain over following provinces: Mae Hong Son and Tak. The rest areas gain slight to moderate rain whereas afternoon to evening rain will be forecast for Bangkok and its vicinity. Rough sea about 2-4 meters high is expected in both the Andaman and the upper Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore lasting 20 August. During 18-20 August, the active low pressure near Hong Kong coast is expected to cover Laos and bring northern and northeastern Thailand another round of more rain outbreaks.

Eastern Part Cloudy. Scattered thundershowers mainly in Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chachoengsao, Chanthaburi and Trat. Minimum temperature 25-26 C. Maximum temperature 32-34 C.

Wave height 2-3 meters and above 3 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (East Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan,

Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Songkhla.

Minimum temperature 24-26 C. Maximum temperature 33-36 C.

Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and about 3 meters offshore.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cloudy. Fairly widespread thundershowers mainly in Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket.
