General Situation The strong high pressure areas cover Thailand. It is expected to cover until 31 December. Outbreaks of cold spells, as well as windy days, are likely with a decrease by 2-3 C. People in upper Thailand should keep warm due to the cold weather conditions.
The stronger northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and the South. The strong winds lead to high waves up to 2-4 meters in the Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore until 4 January 2017.
During 30 December 2016 - 1 January 2017, low pressure cell over the lower South China Sea is expected move across Malaysia and the South of Thailand. More rain is likely isolated heavy to very heavy rain in the South. All people in the South should beware of heavy rain and inshore surge over the shore line areas.
