General Situation The strong northeast monsoon still prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the South and the low pressure cell covers the lower Andaman Sea. Severe rains are forecast for some of following provinces: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si, Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket and Krabi. People should beware of the severe weather conditions and possible flash flood.

The strong winds force waves up to 2-4 meters high in the Gulf and Andaman Sea. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore. People should beware of inshore surge for 1-2 days.

The westerly trough from Myanmar across the North results the upper Thailand has rainfall during 4-7 January 2017, especially in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Phare and Nan provinces. The moderate high pressure over upper Thailand affects outbreaks of cool spells. People should keep warm and stay safe due to the change of weather conditions.

Wave height 2-4 meters and above 4 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain

mostly in Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket and Krabi.

Easterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and 2-3 meters offshore.
