General Situation The strong northeast monsoon still prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the South, and the low pressure over the lower Andaman Sea move north slowly to Myanmar. Outbreaks of heavy to torrential rains are forecast persistent for following provinces: Phetchabury, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si, Thammarat, Phatthalung, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket and Krabi. People should beware of the severe weather conditions and possible flash flood for the period lasting up to 8 January.

The strong winds force waves up to 2-3 meters high in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore. People should beware of inshore surge in the following 1-2 days. Still keep following closely the weather forecast update.

The westerly trough from Myanmar comes across the North resulting in outbreaks of rain spells over upper Thailand while the moderate high pressure still cover the country. The North is forecast cool spells covering with isolated thundershowers while the Central, the East and the Northeast perceive rain during 6-8 January.

Southern Part (East Coast) Very cloudy with fairly widespread thundershowers and torrential rain

in Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si, Thammarat, and Phatthalung.

Minimum temperature 22-24 C. Maximum temperature 28-31 C.

Northeasterly winds 20-40 km/hr.

Wave height 2-3 meters and above 3 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rain

mostly in Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket and Krabi.

Easterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and 2-3 meters offshore.

Metropolitan Cloudy with isolated rain.
