General Situation The active low pressure over the upper Andaman Sea is forecast to the Gulf of Martaban and Myanmar by today (10 Jan). Outbreaks of persistent heavy to torrential rains are forecast for following provinces: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan. Less rain is likely in the lower South. The strong northeast monsoon still prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the South forcing waves up to 2-3 meters high in the Gulf and Andaman Sea. People should beware of inshore surge. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore for a few day.
During 11-13 Jan 2017, the westerly through from Myanmar moves across the North, the Central and the Northeast. More rain is likely in the areas and cold to cool, 2-4 C drops in temperature. The northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and the South will weaken. Less rain is likely in the lower South.
