General Situation At 4.00 a.m. LST today (25 July), the tropical storm “SONCA” over the upper South China Sea was centered about 200 kilometers east of Vinh, Vietnam or latitude 16.8 degree North, longitude 109.2 degree East. It is moving westward slowly with maximum sustained wind about 65 km/hr. This storm is forecast to make landfall over Vietnam on 25 July and downgrade to tropical depression and low pressure cell, respectively. It is expected to move pass Laos, the upper Northeast and the North of Thailand. Abundant rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rain over country.

The strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and Thailand. The strong winds in the upper Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand lead to waves 2-3 meters high. People should beware of severe conditions. All ships should proceed with caution and small boat in the Andaman Sea keep of shore until 29 July 2017.

Northeastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Nong Khai, Udon Thani, Bueng Kan,

Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Kalasin, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen, Yasothon, Roi Et, Surin,

Si Sa Ket and Ubon Ratchathani.

Minimum temperature 23-24 C. Maximum temperature 30-32 C.

Southwesterly winds 10-30 km/hr.

Central Part Scattered thundershowers mostly in Ratchaburi, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Uthai Thani, Chai Nat,

Nakhon Sawan and Lop Buri.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C. Maximum temperature 32-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 10-30 km/hr.

Eastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rain in Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C. Maximum temperature 29-32 C.

Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (East Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly Phetchaburi, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Chumphon.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C. Maximum temperature 32-34 C.

Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters offshore.

Southern Part (West Coast) Cloudy with scattered thundershowers mostly in Ranong, Phangnga and Phuket.

Minimum temperature 23-24 C. Maximum temperature 31-35 C.

Phuket northwards: Southwesterly winds 20-40 km/hr.

Wave height 2-3 meters and above 3 meters in thundershower areas.

Krabi southwards: Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershower areas.

Metropolitan Fairly widespread thundershowers.
