General Situation The southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea and the South with more rain along the windward side and isolated heavy rain in the East. Afternoon to evening rain is expected around Bangkok and its vicinity while the wind waves in the Andaman Sea weakens with 1-2 meters high.
At 4.00 p.m. LST on 24 August, tropical storm “HATO” locates over Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang, China area or latitude 23.7 North, longitude 108.4 East. With maximum sustained wind about 40 knots or 75 km/hr, this storm is moving west with speed of 18 knots or 35 km/hr. It is forecast to downgrade as tropical depression, then. During 24-25 August, it will decline to low-pressure system over southern Chania (near northern border of Laos) and upper Vietnam, affecting upper Thailand with more rainfall.
