Distribution On December 20, 2017

General Situation

The strong high-pressure from China extends to cover Thailand and the South China Sea. Cool to cold spells with strong winds are likely over the upper country including Bangkok and its vicinity. The temperature decreases by 1-3 C, and very cold weather is forecast for the mountaintops. Less rain with cool weather are likely in the South. During 22-24 December, tropical storm KAITAK will move to the lower portion of the South China Sea. It is likely to lose strength while passing Malaysia and the lower South of Thailand, still affecting an increase of rainfall volume with torrential downpour.
