During 28-30 Dec, the moderate high pressure area from China covers upper Thailand while the westerly trough moving pass the upper North to upper Laos during 28-29 Dec. Cool to cold with isolated rain are likely over the areas. The northeast monsoon prevailing over Thailand and the South is weakening and cause the weak wind wave over the Gulf. During 31 Dec 2017 – 2 Jan 2018, another rather strong high pressure area from China will extend to upper Thailand and cause cool to cold with a drop in temperature by 2-4 C. The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and the South of Thailand and causes more rain and isolated heavy rains in the South. The strong wind waves 2-4 meters high are likely in the Gulf.

Warning

People in the upper country should beware of cold weather. People in the South should beware of inshore surge and heavy rain. During 31 Dec 2017 – 2 Jan 2018, all ships in the Gulf of Thailand should proceed with caution, and small boats should keep ashore.
