General Situation Another high-pressure system over Vietnam and upper Laos is expected to cover the Northeast of Thailand. Rain spells will be forecast for upper Thailand following with colder weather and strong winds expected. A sharp fall in temperature by 6-8 C will start in the Northeast by 9 January and extend to the North, the Central and the East beginning 10 January with temperatures fall by 4-6 C and rain chance. People should keep healthy, stay safe and watch for crop’s damage.
The northeast monsoon across the Gulf of Thailand will strengthen during 10-15 January, bringing about isolated downpour in the lower South with rough sea 2-3 meter high in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea. Residents along the Gulf’s shore should watch for inshore surge. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats in the Gulf keep ashore.
