During 19 – 20 Jul, tropical depression “SON-TINH” covers the upper Virtnam and the upper Laos. Expected, this storm will downgrade to active low pressure cell in the upper Laos. The strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Abundant rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rain is likely over Thailand. The strong wind and waves are likely 2-3 meters in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf. During 21-25 Jul, the monsoon trough will lie across Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam while the southwest monsoon will weaken. Less rain over Thailand and abundance remains over the North and the Norteast. The moderates winds and waves are expected about 2 meters over the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf.

Tropical strom “SON-TINH” over the Tonkin Bay is expected to make landfall over Vinh, Veitnam on 18 Jul. It will downgrade to tropical depression and an active low pressure, respectively before moving to Nan, Thailand on 19 Jul.

Warning

During 19 – 20 Jul, people should beware of heavy rain and accumulated rainfall. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should proceed with caution and small boats should keep ashore until 22 Jul .

Eastern Part During 19-20 Jul, fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy to very heavy rain.

Southwesterly wind 15-35 km/hr. Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters in thundershower areas.

Southern Part (East Coast) During 19-20 Jul, scattered to fairly widespread thundershowers with isolated heavy rain.

Surat Thani northwards: Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters off shore.

Nakhon Si Thammarat southwards: Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and about 2 meters off shore.
