General Situation The monsoon trough lie across the North and the upper Northeast to the low-pressure cell over Laos and Vietnam while the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf. Thundershowers continue over the country with isolated heavy rains forecast for the North, the Northeast, the East, and the South (west coast) regions. People in risk area including lowland near the water flow should brace for the severe conditions that may cause flash flood and water runoff.
The winds waves are likely 2-3 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf and above 3 meters high in thundershower areas. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, and small boats keep ashore.
At 4.00 a.m. Tropical Storm PODUL category 3 was centered at latitude 17.3 degree North longitude 112.3 degree East, having maximum sustained wind of 80 km/hr. Moving west at a speed of 25 km/hr heading through Hainan to Tokin Bay, it will then make landfall over upper Vietnam by 30 August.
