General Situation The monsoon trough lie across the lower North, the upper Central and the upper Central and the Northeast to the tropical storm “PODUL” while the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf. Torrential rain with isolated heavy to very heavy rains with strong wind are forecast for the North, the Northeast, the East, and the South regions. People in risk area including lowland near the water flow should brace for the severe conditions that may cause flash flood and water runoff. The winds waves are likely 2-4 meters high in the upper Andaman Sea and 2-4 meters in the upper Gulf with above 4 meters high in thundershower areas. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, and small boats keep ashore.
At 0.30 a.m. on 30 August, Tropical Storm “PODUL” category 3 made landfall over Dong Hoi, Vietnam then moved to Laos. At 04.00 a.m. this storm was centered over Khammouan, Laos. It is expected to move to the upper Northeast at Nakhon Phanom in the morning today.
