General Situation Another rather strong high-pressure system over upper Vietnam is expected to cover the upper northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea tomorrow (27 December). The westerly trough will moves across the upper North and the upper Northeast and forces the northeast monsoon stronger across Thailand.
Upper Thailand is cool to cold with morning fog and isolated rain is expected for the North. The North and the Northeast have decreasing temperatures by 1-3 C while the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity and the East regions have decreasing temperatures by 1-2 C. During the day, the sky is clear and sunny, and the plains of the North and the Northeast have minimum temperatures in range of 13-19 degrees Celsius. Mountaintops are cold to very cold with minimum temperatures in range of 3-13 degrees Celsius. All transport in the upper country should proceed with caution in foggy areas. In the South, more rain is expected. The wind rises waves in the Gulf of Thailand up about 2 meters high.
The category 5 typhoon “PHANFONE” over the middle South China Sea is expected to downgrade and dissipate from 28-29 December with no effect on Thailand.
