General Situation

The monsoon trough lies across the North and the Northeast of Thailand into the active low-pressure cell over the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand. Increasing rainfall will be likely in overall country with heavy to very heavy rains in some places of the North, the Northeast, the Central region including Bangkok and its vicinities, the East, and the South (west coast). People should beware of the severe condition that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially in the foothills near the waterways and the lowland areas.

The rather strong winds forces the waves in the Andaman Sea 2-3 meters high and in thundershowers more than 3 meters high. The offshore upper Gulf has the waves about 2 meters high and thundershowers has the waves more than 2 meters high. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats in the Andaman Sea keep ashore lasting 9 August.

Northern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains in Mae Hong Son,

Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, Tak, Sukhothai,

Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit and Phetchabun.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C. Maximum temperature 31-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 10-20 km/hr.

Northeastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains

in Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon,

Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Mukdahan, Roi Et,

Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.

Minimum temperature 23-25 C. Maximum temperature 28-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 10-20 km/hr.

Central Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani,

Lop Buri, Saraburi, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi.

Minimum temperature 22-26 C. Maximum temperature 32-33 C.

Southwesterly winds 10-20 km/hr.

Eastern Part Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy to very heavy rains

in Nakhon Nayok, Prachinburi, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.

Minimum temperature 23-27 C. Maximum temperature 28-32 C.

Southwesterly winds 20-35 km/hr.

Wave height about 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers.

Southern Part (East Coast) Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Minimum temperature 23-24 C. Maximum temperature 31-34 C.

Surat Thani upwards: Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Wave height 1-2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers.

Nakhon Si Thammarat downwards: Southwesterly winds 15-30 km/hr.

Wave height about 1 meter and 1-2 meters in thundershowers.

Southern Part (West Coast) Scattered thundershowers and isolated heavy rains in Ranong and Phangnga.

Phuket upwards: Southwesterly winds 20-40 km/hr.

Wave height 2-3 meters and above 3 meters in thundershowers.

Krabi downwards: Southwesterly winds 15-35 km/hr.

Metropolitan Fairly widespread thundershowers and isolated heavy rains.
