During 24 - 26 Jan 2023, the strong high-pressure system from China extends to upper Thailand and the South China Sea with cool to cold weather and strong wind. A decrease in temperature by 5 - 7 C is likely in the Northeast while 3 - 5 C drop in temperature is likely in the North, the Central including Bangkok and vicinity and the East. The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the lower Gulf of Thailand and the South with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the lower South. The strengthening wind forces the waves in the lower Gulf up to 2 - 4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. During 27 - 30 Jan 2023, another rather strong high-pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea with cool to cold weather and strong wind. The temperature will decrease by 1 - 3 C in upper Thailand. The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand, the South and the Andaman Sea with isolated heavy to very heavy rains in the lower South. The strong wind forces the waves in the Gulf up to 2 - 4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers while 1 - 2 meters high in the Andaman Sea and above 2 meters high offshore.
Caution
People in upper Thailand should keep healthy due to the cool to cold weather and beware of fire due to strong winds and dry air. People in the lower South should beware of heavy to very heavy rains that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially in the foothills near the waterways and the lowland areas. People along the Gulf shore should beware of inshore surges. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boat in the Gulf should keep ashore throughout the period.
