Weather Outlook During 2 - 8 May 2023
During 2 - 7 May, The moderate high-pressure system over upper Thailan and the South China Sea becomes weaker while the southerly and southeasterly winds prevail over the upper country. Isolated thundershowers with gusty winds are likely in the areas. At the same time, the heat low covers upper Thailand with hot and haze during the day. Very hot is likely in some places of the upper country. During 7 - 8 May, the moderate high-pressure system from China will extend to over upper Thailand and the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the southerly and southeasterly winds prevailing over the upper country will strengthen where hot to very hot weather occurs over the upper country. Outbreaks of summer storms accompanying with thunderstorms, gust and hail including lightning strike will begin in the eastern portions of the Northeast, then the rest regions. During 2 - 4 May, the strengthening easterly and southeasterly winds prevail across the Gulf, the South and the Andaman Sea with more rains and isolated heavy rains in the lower South. The waves in the Gulf are 1 - 2 meter high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. After that on 5 May, the easterly and southeasterly winds prevailing over the Gulf, the South and the Andaman Sea will weaken with less rains and isolated thundershowers. During 6 - 8 May, the westerly and the southwesterly winds prevail across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf with isolated thundershowers. The wind and wave in the Gulf are below 1 meter and about 2 meters in thundershowers. During 6-8 May, the westerly wind prevails across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf while, the low-pressure cell covers the lower Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea with isolated thundershowers. The strengthening wind and waves in the Andaman sea are 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers.
Caution
During 2 - 7 May, people should keep healthy due to hot and very hot weather. During 7 - 8 May, people in the upper country should beware of the severe condition by keeping off open-air, big trees and unsecured billboards. Avoid wearing metal decorations and using cell phone in thunderstorm. Farmers should prevent for crop and livestock damage. People in the South should beware of heavy rains and all ships should proceed with caution, small boats in the Gulf should keep ashore during 2 - 3 May.
