Weather Outlook During 8 - 14 June 2023
During 8 - 9 Jun, the strong monsoon trough lies across Myanmar, the North and the upper Northeast into the low-pressure cell over the Gulf of Tonkin and the south of China. Meanwhile, the rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Continuous rains with isolated heavy rains are likely in the country and isolated heavy rains are possible in the North, the Northeast, the East and the South (west coast). During 11 - 14 Jun, the monsoon trough will lie across Myanmar and Upper Laos into the low-pressure cell over Gulf of Tonkin. Meanwhile, the rather strong southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will weaken. Less rains are likely in the country and isolated heavy rains. The rather strong wind forces the waves in the upper Andaman Sea up to 2 - 3 meters high, above 3 meters high in thundershowers. the moderate wind and wave in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are 1 - 2 meters high, about 2 meters high in thundershowers throughout the period.
Caution
People in the country should beware of heavy rain throughout the period. During 8 - 10 June, people in the North, the Northeast, the East and the South (west coast) should beware of very heavy rains and its accumulations that may cause flash floods and overflows especially, along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should keep ashore lasting 11 June.
