Weather Outlook During 11 - 17 August 2023
During 12 ? 15 Aug, the southwest monsoon which prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen while the weak monsoon trough lies across the upper of the North and Laos into the low-pressure cell at upper Vietnam. Thundershowers are likely to increase in the country and isolated heavy rains are possible in the Central and the South (east coast) and isolated very heavy rains in the North, Northeast, the East and the South (west coast) regions. The wind and waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf will strengthen. The waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are 2 - 3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers areas. In the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf, the waves has 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers areas. During 16 ? 17 Aug, the moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. The monsoon trough still lies across the upper of the North and Laos into the low-pressure cell at upper Vietnam. Thundershowers are likely to decrease but isolated heavy rains are possible in the North,The Northeast, the East and the South regions. The moderate wind and waves are in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf, the waves are about 2 meters high and and above 2 meters high in thundershowers area . In the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf, the waves are 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers area.
Caution
During 12 ? 17 Aug, People in Thailand should beaware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and surface runoff, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers area throughout the period ,small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the east side of the upper Gulf keep ashore during 12 ? 15 Aug.
