During 24 ? 26 Aug, the monsoon trough lies across upper Myanmar, the upper portion of the North and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell over the coast of upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. Meanwhile, the moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. Thundershower and isolated heavy rain are likely in Thailand. The moderate wind and waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf are about 1 meter high and 1 - 2 meters high in thundershowers. During 27 ? 28 Aug, the monsoon trough will move up to lie across upper Myanmar and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell over the coast of upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin with less rain in the country. After that, the monsoon trough will move down to lie across the upper North and the upper Northeast with more rain and isolated heavy rain in the areas. During 27 ? 30 Aug, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen. The waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to height 1 - 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershowers and about 1 meter high in the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf, 1 - 2 meters high in thundershowers.
Caution
During 24 ? 26 Aug, people in upper Thailand should beware of heavy rains and accumulated rainfall that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. During 27 ? 30 Aug, all ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
