The moderate northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and the South with isolated heavy rains in the lower South. The winds and waves in the upper Gulf are likely 1 ? 2 meters high and above 2 meter high in thundershowers while the waves in the lower Gulf is likely about 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea, the wave are likely about 1 meter high, above 1 meter high in thundershowers and 1 ? 2 meters high offshore. During 17 - 19 Dec, another rather strong high-pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea while the low-pressure cell over the lower South China Sea will expect to intensify and will move near the Tip of Indochina during 19 ? 20 Dec. Isolated light rains are likely in the upper country for first period, then a decrease in temperature with strong wind. A decrease in temperature by 2 ? 4 C is likely in the North and the Northeast while 1 ? 3 C decrease in temperature is likely in the Central including Bangkok and the its vicinity and the East regions. After that on 20 Dec, another strong high-pressure system from China will extend to upper Thailand and the South China Sea with cool to cold weather, a decrease in temperature and strong wind in the upper country.
