Weekly forecast for 31 MAY ? 6 JUNE 2024
The southwest monsoon prevailing across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf is moderated throughout the period while the tropical depression cover the east of Hinan Island and the low pressure will cover the Tonkin Bay during 2 ? 6 June. These factors cause isolated heavy rain in the whole country with very heavy rains in some places in the upper Northeast, the East and the South (west coast). The moderate wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely 1-2 meters high, about 1 meter high in the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers areas. In addition, the tropical depression over the upper South China Sea is expected to intensify to the tropical storm by today (31 May 2024). It is forecast to make landfall over Guangdong, China by tonight (31 May 2024) and it will downgrade to the tropical depression and an active low-pressure cell, respectively.
Caution
During 31 May ? 2 June, people should beware of heavy rains to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash floods and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All transport takes more caution when traveling through the thundershowers areas. All ships in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers throughout the period.
