Weather Outlook During 19 - 25 June 2024
During 19 - 20 Jun, the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf while the low-pressure cell covers upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin with isolated thundershowers in the country and isolated heavy rains in the East and the South (west coast). The wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea are likely 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. During 21 ? 25 Jun, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen while the monsoon trough will lie across the North and the Northeast into the low-pressure cell over upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. More rains and isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the Northeast, the East, Bangkok and vicinity including the South (west coast). The rather strong wind forces the wave in the upper Andaman Sea up to 2 - 3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers, about 2 meters high in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf and above 2 meters high in thundershowers.
Caution
During 21 ? 25 Jun, people should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships in the Gulf and the Andaman Sea should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea keep ashore.
