During 26 ? 27 Jul, the moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf while the low-pressure cell covers upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin. Thundershowers and isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the western part of the North and the Central. The moderate wind forces the waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely about 2 meters high while 1 - 2 meters high in the lower Andaman Sea and the lower Gulf and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. During 28 Jul ? 1 Aug, the moderate monsoon trough will lie across the upper North and upper Laos into the low-pressure cell over upper Vietnam and the Gulf of Tonkin while the moderate southwest monsoon still prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf. More rains and isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very heavy rains are possible in the upper North, and the upper Northeast. The moderate wind and waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are likely 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In addition, the tropical storm ?Gaemi? over Fujian, China is expected to downgrade to the tropical depression and an active low-pressure cell, respectively. This storm has no direct effect on Thailand?s weather. Please check the weather conditions before traveling to the area.
Caution
During 26 ? 27 Jul, people in the western part of the North and the Central and during 29 Jul ? 1 Aug, people in the North and the upper Northeast should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All transports take more caution during the phenomena. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers throughout the period.
