Weather Outlook During 14 - 20 Aug 2024
The moderate monsoon trough will lie across the upper North, the upper of the Northeast and Laos into the low-pressure cell over upper Vietnam while the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf throughout the period. Isolated heavy rains are in the North, the upper Northeast and the East. During 16 ? 18 Aug, there are convergece of the southeasterly and the southwesterly winds in the upper level in the Northeast region. More rains with heavy rains will be in many places of the country. The moderate wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea are likely 1 - 2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Andaman Sea and the Gulf, the waves have about 1 meter high and above 2 meters in thundershowers. In addition, the severe tropical storm (AMPIL), the south of Japan will intensify to the typhoon. It is forecast to move through eastern of Japan during 16 ? 17 Aug. This storm with no effect on Thailand?s weather.
Caution
People in Thailand should beware of heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should keep off thundershowers throughout the period.
