Weather Outlook During 20 - 26 Aug 2024
The monsoon trough will lie across the upper North and Laos into the low-pressure cell over upper Vietnam while the southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf throughout the period. Isolated heavy rains are present in the North and the Northeast throughout the period. During 20 ? 24 Aug, convergence of the southeasterly and the southwesterly winds in the upper level will prevail over the Northeast region. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the country with very heavy rains in the North and the Northeast. During 24 ? 26 Aug, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea will be strengthen. The wind and wave in the upper Andaman Sea will be stronger. In the upper Andaman Sea, wave height is likely 1 - 2 meters and above 2 meters in thundershower areas and offshore.
Caution
People in Thailand especially in the North and the Northeast should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should keep off thundershowers throughout the period.
