General Situation

Another moderate high-pressure system from China, extending to southern China, is expected to cover upper Vietnam and upper Laos today (18 Dec 2024). It is forecast to move into the Northeast of Thailand, causing a temperature decrease of 1-2 C and strong winds in the region. Cool to cold weather with morning fog is likely in the North, while cool weather is expected in the Central region, including Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as in the East and the upper South. On the mountaintops of the North and Northeast, cold to very cold weather with isolated frost is forecast. People in these areas should take care of their health due to the cool to cold weather and be cautious of fire hazards caused by dry air. The moderate northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South will bring isolated thundershowers in the lower South. Moderate winds and waves in the lower Gulf are expected to reach heights of 1-2 meters and over 2 meters in areas with thundershowers. In the Andaman Sea, waves are forecast to be about 1 meter high, rising to over 1 meter offshore and over 2 meters in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and avoid areas with thundershowers.

Central

Eastern
Morning cool. Minimum temperature 18-23 C. Maximum temperature 31-33 C. Northeasterly winds 15-35 km./hr. Wave height below 1 meter and 1-2 meters offshore.
Southern (East Coast)
Morning cool in upper part. Isolated thundershowers mostly in in Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. Minimum temperature 20-25 C. Maximum temperature 30-33 C. Northeasterly winds 15-35 km./hr. Wave height 1-2 meters and above 2 meters high in thundershowers.
Southern (West Coast)
Isolated thundershowers thundershowers mostly in Trang and Satun. Minimum temperature 24-26 C. Maximum temperature 32-34 C. Easterly winds 15-30 km./hr. Wave height about 1 meter, above 1 meter offshore and above 2 meters in thundershowers.
Bangkok Metropolitan
Morning cool. Minimum temperature 21-23 C. Maximum temperature 31-33 C. Northeasterly winds 10-20 km./hr.
