TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. will host an ACRAA training workshop entitled “Rating of Infrastructure Projects” during 19-20 May 2011 at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok. The training program is one of the main activities of the Association of Credit Rating Agencies in Asia (ACRAA), an association of regional credit rating agencies in Asia. Some of the aims of the ACRAA include developing the credit rating skills of analysts, promoting a code of professional ethics, and initiating best practices among members.

TRIS Rating said that ACRAA members have met annually since the founding of ACRAA in 2001, with earlier cooperative activities dating back to 1993 under the name “ASEAN Forum of Credit Rating Agencies” or AFCRA. The meetings feature a number of workshops and training courses to discuss areas of mutual interests and develop human resources. ACRAA members also work closely together to develop strategies for the future growth of the bond markets in Asia.

For 2011, TRIS Rating takes a turn as host of the training program in Bangkok. The analysts from ACRAA member agencies will attend and conduct workshops on infrastructure projects, especially transportation infrastructure such as highways, tollways, and expressways. The trainer of the program this year is from ICRA Ltd., India, an associate of Moody’s Investors Service. The trainer is a credit rating expert in industry sectors such as toll roads, engineering construction, real estate, and cement.

TRIS Rating said: “ACRAA believes in the power of human resources. We are confident that the various training programs ACRAA has conducted for its members’ analysts are an essential mechanism to strengthen the human resources of our members so as to further develop the bond markets in Asia.” -- End

Note: ACRAA's network covers 28 rating agencies in 15 countries: Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Uzbekistan.
