The cabinet meeting on Tuesday 19, August 2008 has come to the following decision:
Approved of the organization of the event of “Confidence in Thailand: Investment for the future of Thai people” “มั่นใจไทยแลนด์: การลงทุนเพื่ออนาคตของคนไทย” and the Office of Knowledge Management and Development (OKMD) assigned to be responsible for the project and the approved 30 million baht project budget.
The project “Confidence in Thailand: Investment for the future of Thai people” “มั่นใจไทยแลนด์: การลงทุนเพื่ออนาคตของคนไทย”
1. Objective is to create confidence in government projects and to provide opportunities for the public, business operations and both foreign and Thai investors. Ambassadors that have residency in Thailand, government departments and private enterprise attended an event to listen to the Prime Minister give a speech on government projects and other mega projects planned by government departments and the private sector. An exhibition of government department and private sector projects was also visited.
2. Presenting plan details and mega projects including the following three parts:
2.1. Government project office divided in the following four areas:
1) Transportation
2) Administration and development of water resources and irrigation
3) Development
4) Development of educational systems and learning
2.2. Project investments of private enterprise
1) Transportation
2) Energy
3) Communication
4) Residency and property
2.3. Project investment of private sector
3. Event activities
1) Academic seminar
2) Exhibition
3) Small seminar
Approved of proceeding the six measures for six months for the Railway of Thailand
The cabinet approved the following proposal of the Ministry of Transportation:
1. Approved the State Railway of Thailand for a eight rapid commercial train to provide free third class service to the public
2. Approved the Budget Bureau to increase compensation expenses to the State Railway of Thailand by 28 million baht from the previous budget of 41.7 million baht to compensate 69.7 million baht a month effective on the date that the cabinet approved this proposal until January 31, 2009
Approved in principle on the important document signing at the 3rd ministerial level meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Almaty, Kazakhstan to sign the constitution amendment protocol of the secretariat of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) as proposed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If it is necessary to amend minor passages of the document that will benefit Thailand, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will consider them and it is not necessary to submit to the cabinet.
Approved of the minutes and results of the 1/2551 health care scheme committee meeting on Friday August 1, 2008 as proposed by the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board
1. Approved in principle of health care investment as proposed by the Ministry of Public Health including four working plans: development of service system, development of doctors and health care staff, consumer protection, database and knowledge development
2. Assigned Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Surapong Suebwonglee, Ministry of Public Health, the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board and other related departments to improve integration of the health care investment to include service systems all over the nation by coordinating with other related areas including hospitals. The goal is to improve the health care investment plan and to cover improvement of the health care service to link in levels and for efficient problem solving such as lack of doctors and health care staff. They will influence change by providing adequate medical equipment and development of an advanced informational database in the Ministry of Public Health and outside the Ministry of Public Health
3. Accelerate improvement of laws related to this issue for the protection of doctors and to provide support for the occupation. To consider the source of funding for the health care scheme investment budget. Each part of the plan should be clearly allocated to a certain part of the country as per the budget. Foreign loans and other budget sources such as the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and other private sector funding will be considered and observed by the committee and proposed to the committee at the next meeting
