ทั้งนี้ รายงานของสำนักงานสถิติแห่งชาติจีนบ่งชี้ว่า อัตราการขยายตัวของจีดีพีของจีนชะลอตัวลงมาแตะที่ 7.6% ในระหว่างเดือน ม.ค.-มิ.ย. 2556 ทำสถิติต่ำที่สุดสำในรอบ 3 ปีหรับช่วงครึ่งปี ในขณะที่อัตราการขยายตัวของจีดีพีในไตรมาสที่ 2 อยู่ที่ 7.5% ลดลงจาก 7.7% ในไตรมาสแรก
ไชน่า ซิเคียวริตี้ส์ เจอร์นัล ระบุว่า จีนควรจะพอใจกับอัตราการขยายตัวทางเศรษฐกิจที่ลดลงเพื่อยกระดับเศรษฐกิจของประเทศ พร้อมกับเสริมว่า ถึงแม้ว่าเศรษฐกิจจะผันผวนในระยะสั้น หรือแม้กระทั่งเศรษฐกิจขยายตัวในระดับต่ำกว่า 7% ในบางไตรมาส แต่จีนจะประสบความสำเร็จในระยะยาว นั่นก็คือเป้าหมายจีดีพีเพิ่มขึ้นเป็น 2 เท่าของปี 2553 ภายในปี 2563
บทบรรณาธิการกล่าวเสริมว่า จีนควรจะเพิ่มประสิทธิภาพในความพยายามด้านการปฏิรูปโครงสร้างเศรษฐกิจในช่วงครึ่งหลังของปีนี้
นอกจากนี้ บทบรรณาธิการยังจัดทำรายชื่อประเด็นต่างๆหลายประเด็นสำหรับความพยายามด้านการสร้างสมดุลให้กับเศรษฐกิจจีน ซึ่งรวมไปถึงการขจัดกำลังการผลิตที่สูงเกินไป การส่งเสริมอุตสาหกรรมเกิดใหม่ การยกระดับอุตสาหกรรมบริการให้ทันสมัย และเดินหน้าผลักดันการปฏิรูป

Slower GDP growth within China's tolerance, CSJ commentary
BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- China's current slowdown in gross domestic product (GDP) growth has not touched the bottom line the Chinese government set for the country's economic growth, according to a commentary by the China Securities Journal (CSJ) on Tuesday.
China's GDP growth slowed to 7.6 percent in January-June of 2013, the weakest first-half performance in three years. The growth in the second quarter stood at 7.5 percent, down from 7.7 percent during the first quarter, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Monday.
The commentary said that China would bear with lower economic growth rate in order to upgrade its economy, adding that despite short-term economic fluctuations, even if the economic growth in some quarters was lower than 7 percent, China could still achieve longer- term target of doubling China's 2010 GDP by 2020.
According to the commentary, China would enhance its economic restructuring efforts in the second half of this year.
It listed several moves for China's economic rebalancing efforts, which included weeding out excessive production capacity, boosting emerging industries and modern service industry, and pressing ahead reforms.
The commentary said that China would push forward market-oriented interest rate reform to enhance the velocity of money and promote income distribution reform. In the first half of this year, Chinese residents witnessed slower income growth, which might curb the consumption in the second half of this year. (Edited by Jiang Yujuan, jiangyj@xinhua.org)
