ตามที่นายวาสลาฟ ฮาเวล (V?clav Havel) อดีตประธานาธิบดีสาธารณรัฐเช็ก ได้ถึงแก่อสัญกรรมเมื่อวันที่ ๑๘ ธันวาคม ๒๕๕๔ นั้น
ในการนี้ นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนาย Petr Necas นายกรัฐมนตรีสาธารณรัฐเช็ก และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนาย Karel Schwazenberg รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศสาธารณรัฐเช็ก ดังนี้

I have learned with deep sorrow the passing away of His Excellency V?clav Havel, former President of the Czech Republic, who had dedicated his life and work to upholding the value of democracy and well-being of Czech people. His Excellency’s outstanding contribution to the development of the Czech Republic and his devotion to the human rights and freedom for Czechoslovakia will always be remembered and cherished by all of us with admiration and respect.
In this moment of sadness and bereavement, allow me, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of Thailand, to extend to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of the Czech Republic our profound condolences for this great loss.

The passing away of such a great leader has filled the hearts of all people in Thailand with deep sorry and a sense of great loss. His Excellency V?clav Havel will always be remembered for his great contribution to the development of the Czech Republic and, most of all, his devotion to the value of human rights and democracy for the world.
I wish to convey to Your Excellency and through you, to the Government and the people of the Czech Republic, the heartfelt condolences and profound sympathy for this great loss.
