ตามที่ได้เกิดเหตุการณ์อุทกภัยฉับพลันและดินถล่มทางตอนเหนือของเกาะคิวชู ประเทศญี่ปุ่น เมื่อวันที่ ๑๒ กรกฎาคม ๒๕๕๕ ส่งผลให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตและผู้บาดเจ็บ รวมถึงความเสียหายเป็นจำนวนมาก นั้น
ในการนี้ นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายโยชิฮิโกะ โนดะ นายกรัฐมนตรีญี่ปุ่น และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายโคอิจิโร เก็มบะ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศญี่ปุ่น ดังนี้
