ด้วยวันที่ ๕ พฤษภาคม ๒๕๕๖ ดาโต๊ะ นาจิบ ราซัค นายกรัฐมนตรีมาเลเซีย ประสบความสำเร็จในการนำพรรคร่วมฝ่ายรัฐบาล (Barisan Nasional — BN) รับชัยชนะในการเลือกตั้งทั่วไป ครั้งที่ ๑๓ ด้วยจำนวน ๑๓๓ ที่นั่ง จาก ๒๒๒ ที่นั่งในสภาผู้แทนราษฎร ในการนี้ นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีมสารแสดงความยินดีถึงนายกรัฐมนตรีมาเลเซีย และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศมาเลเซีย ดังนี้
I have the honour to extend to you my warmest congratulations on your success in the general election on 5 May 2013. The results clearly show that your time-tested leadership and far-sighted vision, displayed during your long impressive public service career, particularly over the past four years as Prime Minister, have won the trust and confidence from Malaysians of various walks of life. I am confident that with your able guidance and mandate, Malaysia will continue to progress and prosper in the years ahead. Thailand and Malaysia share a warm and close partnership at all levels and aspects. Our cooperation also extends beyond bilateral frameworks. We have worked closely together in ASEAN and the region.
