ตามที่สาธารณรัฐอินเดียได้ประสบอุทกภัยครั้งร้ายแรงในรัฐอุตตราขัณฑ์เมื่อวันที่ ๑๙ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๖ เป็นเหตุให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตและบ้านเรือนได้รับความเสียหายจำนวนมากนั้น นางสาวยิ่งลักษณ์ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงนายกรัฐมนตรีอินเดีย และนายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศอินเดีย ดังนี้

On behalf of the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I have the honour to offer my heartfelt sympathy and condolences to those who have been affected by the severe flooding and landslides in Uttarakhand.
I am confident that under your strong leadership, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts will be carried out effectively. Thailand stands ready to assist India in mitigating the effects of this unfortunate calamity.
