ข้อความสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศแคนาดาต่อสถานการณ์อุทกภัยในรัฐแอลเบอร์ตา

ตามที่เกิดอุทกภัยในรัฐแอลเบอร์ตา ประเทศแคนาดาเมื่อวันที่ ๒๐ มิถุนายน ๒๕๕๖ ทำให้มีผู้เสียชีวิตและประชาชนในพื้นที่ต้องอพยพ นั้น นายสุรพงษ์ โตวิจักษณ์ชัยกุล รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความเสียใจถึงรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศแคนาดา ข้อความดังนี้

“Dear Mr. Minister,

It is with profound sadness to learn that Alberta and its surrounding areas suffered from the catastrophic flooding described as the “worst in Alberta’s history”. I was equally saddened to learn that at least 4 people were killed and over 75,000 people were evacuated from their homes.

In this time of grief, I wish to extend my sincere sympathies to those injured as well as to those who lost their homes. I am certain that with the resilience and strong spirit of solidarity for which Canadians are known, the affected areas will soon be rehabilitated and restored.

As Thailand also suffered from the severe consequences of devastating floods, we greatly share and understand what the citizens of Alberta are going through. Thai people have never forgotten the assistance that Canada extended to us in our time of need. Thailand, therefore, stands ready to do in any possible way to ensure that the daily lives of the citizens of Alberta and its surrounding areas return to normalcy.
