Office of the Prime Minister,
Government House,
BANGKOK.
September B.E. 2564 (2021)
Excellency,
Upon Your Excellency?s decision to relinquish the position of President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, I would like to take this opportunity to extend to you my sincere congratulations on a very successful tenure as Prime Minister of Japan. Your Excellency?s leadership in guiding your country through one of the most challenging global events in the form of the COVID-19 pandemic, including a successful and truly inspiring Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games 2020, will always be admired and cherished as a noble era of stability and progress for Japan, the people of Japan, and our region.
As you depart office, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you for your strong support for the enduring friendship between our two countries, including the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Thailand and Japan, as well as the continued promotion of economic cooperation under the High Level Joint Commission (HLJC). In particular, the generous provision and assistance of 1,650,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and other related medical supplies by the Government of Japan to help mitigate the COVID-19 pandemic situation in Thailand during the recent surge in cases was deeply appreciated by the Thai people, and truly reflected the warm friendship between our two countries based on goodwill, mutual benefit, and the well-being of our peoples.
Allow me to take this opportunity also to extend to Your Excellency my best wishes for your good health and continued success in your future endeavours.
Accept, Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration.
General (Ret.)
(Prayut Chan-o-cha)
Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand
His Excellency
Mr. SUGA Yoshihide,
