เมื่อวันที่ 26 พฤษภาคม 2553 นายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรี ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีไปยังนาย D.M. Jayaratne นายกรัฐมนตรีสาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา ในโอกาสเข้ารับตำแหน่ง ดังนี้

On behalf of the Royal Thai Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I have the honour to extend to Your Excellency my sincere congratulations on the occasion of your appointment as Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

Thailand highly values the close and cordial relations with Sri Lanka, built upon the strong foundation of our shared cultural values and Buddhist heritage. I am pleased to note that our multi-faceted cooperation has been expanding in wide-ranging areas of mutual interest in recent years.
