เมื่อวันที่ 8 มิถุนายน 2553 นายอภิสิทธิ์ เวชชาชีวะ นายกรัฐมนตรี และนายกษิต ภิรมย์ รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้มีสารแสดงความยินดีไปยังนายนาโอโตะ คัน (Naoto Kan)นายกรัฐมนตรีญี่ปุ่น และนายคัทสึยะ โอคาดะ (Katsuya Okada) รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศญี่ปุ่น ตามลำดับ
