I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of your beloved wife, Madame Kwa Geok Choo. Her legacies were invaluable and beyond compare. Her graceful ways of living as wife, mother, and spouse of Prime Minister were deeply touched by not only Singaporeans but also the people in Thailand and other countries in the region. Her amicable characters, her selflessness and her subtle contribution to Singapore’s nation-building were highly praised and will never be forgotten.
On behalf of the Government and people of Thailand, I wish to extend my profound sympathy and condolences to you, your family and the people of Singapore for this great loss. Madame Kwa will be dearly missed. I believe she will always be “the tower of strength” in the hearts and souls of Singaporeans.

During her illness, your father, Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew, you and your family showed great courage and perseverance through what must have been extremely difficult times. The loss of Madame Kwa brings grief not only to the Singaporean people, but also to us in Thailand and all member countries of ASEAN. I was truly touched by her livelong love to your father, her dedication to her children and her commitment to her country and people. She is the true grace and beauty of your family and of Singapore indeed.
