กรุงเทพฯ--25 มิ.ย.--Sheraton Hotel & Towers
Though one of the dishes that best epitomizes the simple brilliance of Thai cuisine, surprisingly few foreigners have heard of “mieng” and surprisingly few Thais enjoy it on a regular basis. The traditional “Mieng Kham” is a tasty do-it-yourself dish with different tastes and textures coming together in one bite-sized package: “Mieng” means “many” and “Kham” means “one bite”. It starts with various condiments — ginger, peanuts, cubes of fresh lime, dried shrimp, coconut flakes, and chili peppers. These are placed together on a dark green “bai cha pluu” (wild tea) leaf with a special sweet and tangy sauce and then rolled up and popped in the mouth. Last year’s festival was a huge hit among Thai cuisine lovers, and now it’s time for Thara Thong “Mieng” to make a comeback from now until July 31st, 2008. With the creativity of Chef Charoensri Vatanayut, “mieng” is taken to the next level with a special menu that will delight your taste buds. Her expertly conceived and prepared dishes include Mieng Tuna (Combination of tuna, ginger, mango, shallot, peanuts, mint leaves and lettuce in crispy cup topped with mieng sauce), Mieng Kao Tung (Crispy rice topped with “Cha-Plu” leaves, sweet and sour pork, shrimp, chicken, dried shrimp and peanuts), Mieng Chu Chok (Boiled pork, chicken, shrimp and mieng sauce wrapped in rice noodle), Mieng Moo Yang (Grilled pork, mango, garlic, cucumber, pineapple, shallot, basil leaves, mint leaves and mieng sauce wrapped in green lettuce), Mieng Je (Combination of grated coconut, mango cubes, beancurd, cashew nuts, ginger, shallot, chilli in “Cha-Plu” leaves), Mieng Kuen Chai (Stir-fried ground pork, shrimp on celery, topped with peanut, onion and chilli), Mieng Ruam Mitr (Mixed combination of mieng). Come experience these creative Mieng creations at Thara Thong, where traditional cuisine and hospitality meet modern comfort and innovation, only at Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers. Open daily for lunch from noon to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The venue offers comfortable floor-seating, either at low tables in an air-conditioned teak pavilion or patio dining outside, both with fascinating views of the Chao Phraya River.
