WTO ประกาศรับสมัครรองผู้อำนวยการใหญ่

          นายปาสคาล ลามี (Pascal Lamy) จะเข้ารับตำแหน่งผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ WTO แทนนายศุภชัย พานิชภักดิ์ ในวันที่ 1 กันยายน 2548 และขณะนี้ได้มีการประกาศรับสมัครรองผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ WTO จำนวน 4 ตำแหน่ง โดยผู้สนใจต้องส่งใบสมัครต่อแผนก Human Resources ของ WTO ภายในวันที่ 10 กรกฎาคม 2548 และจะประกาศผลการคัดสรรภายในวันที่ 15 สิงหาคม 2548 เพื่อให้เริ่มงานวันที่ 1 ตุลาคม 2548 ดังมีรายละเอียดดังนี้
                              ANNOUNCEMENT
          The WTO Director-General Designate wishes to appoint four Deputy Directors-General for a 4-year term. 
          The successful candidates will have a range of qualities and competencies including: 
          - extensive experience in international relations, encompassing economic, trade, development and/or political experience; 
          - proven leadership and managerial acumen; 
          - aptitude for and professional experience in managing instruments of a budgetary and legal nature; 
          - demonstrated communication skills; 
          - ability to negotiate in a multilateral context; 
          - capacity to develop or improve contacts with the relevant constituencies. 
          Requirements: 
          - applicants must be nationals of a WTO Member and be under 62 years old; 
          - must hold an advanced university degree; 
          - must have at least 15 years’ experience in international trade matters, of which at least 10 years must have been gained in a management or advisory function at high level; 
          - at least ten years' governmental/inter-governmental experience at a senior level; 
          - must have a thorough knowledge of at least one of the official languages of the WTO and an adequate knowledge of another of these official languages. 
          The selection will take into account the need to ensure adequate gender and geographical balance. 
          Independence 
          Candidates are required to confirm their willingness to make a declaration of their commitment to act independently in the public interest and a declaration of any interests which might be considered prejudicial to their independence. 
          Appointment 
          The Deputy Directors-General will be selected by the WTO Director-General Designate. Applications must be received by 10 July 2005. The results of the selection process will be announced by the Director-General Designate no later than 15 August. The term of office will begin on 1 October 2005.
