พ.ต.ท.ทักษิณ ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรี และ ดร.สุรเกียรติ์ เสถียรไทย รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ได้ส่งสารแสดงความเสียใจในโอกาสที่นาย Ratu Sir Kamisese Kapaiwai Tuimacilai Mara อดีตประธานาธิบดีและนายกรัฐมนตรีหมู่เกาะฟิจิถึงแก่อสัญกรรมเมื่อวันที่ 18 เมษายน 2547 ดังนี้

Excellency,
I am saddened to learn of the passing away of Ratu Sir Kamisese Kapaiwai Tuimacilai Mara, former President and Prime Minister of the Republic of the Fiji Islands. On behalf of the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand, I wish to express my deep sympathy and sincere condolences to his family and the people of the Republic of the Fiji Islands for this tremendous and irreparable loss.
Ratu Sir Kamisese Kapaiwai Tuimacilai Mara will always be remembered for his wise leadership and strength of character. His dedication to and accomplishment in the development of modern Fiji will serve as an inspiration for others to continue his works.Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

His role as the pre-eminent statesman of the Pacific will continue to be a great source of inspiration to the Pacific community.At this time of sorrow, I wish to extend to Your Excellency and, through you, to all members of the bereaved family my condolences and sympathy for this irreparable loss.
